The name comes from the winemaker’s latest venture, the rearing of big black pigs for making his very own version of Iberico bellota ham. Using fruit sourced from his personal contacts in the McLaren Vale, winemaker Steve Grimley’s team has produced a smooth, mouth-filling wine that’s vegan-friendly. A revelation if you’re more used to the thumping, ostentatious style typical of the more traditional Aussie fare.

Not only is Steve Grimley a very fine winemaker, but he also breeds pigs. Well, rather he holds them in a field and they do the rest. Things have spiralled since his first two pairs, and the population are threatening to over-run the vines, now being in the fourth generation (the vines that is). This delicious rosé bears the second generation and goes a long way to provide a perfect, rose-petal and strawberry-scented pink, reminiscent of summertime.
